Karpathos boat cruise

First, you will reach the islet of Armathia, an almost untouched paradise far from the crowd. You can swim at one of the loveliest gold sandy beaches in the Mediterranean with crystal emerald waters, known as Marmara (Marbles).

Next, you will travel back in time on this small island, Kasos, which remains largely untouched by tourism and acquaints visitors with an authentic slice of Greece from a bygone era. Kasos is located to the east of Crete and is the southernmost of the Dodecanese island cluster.

At first glance, its rugged landscape makes it appear somewhat savage and hostile. But this is an island of pleasant and welcoming people that is very rewarding for those who make the effort to visit. There, you have the choice to explore the main town of Fry, pronounced “free” is the main town and port of Kasos, with a population of around 350.

The name “fry” means eyebrow in Greek and is named for the shape of the town. Fry has narrow alleys and traditional architecture, and the port of Bouka is a great example of an old pirate base. Boukas Square is located at the port of Bouka, right on the harbor front. Its mosaiced terraces show off images of the island, and the anchors and cannons remind visitors of the town’s former piratical history. You can sit at one of the cafes or restaurants for lunch and watch the activity around the port.

You have the chance to visit the Archaeological Museum of Kasos, is located in a traditional 19th-century house in Fry, which highlights the traditional architecture of the island’s homes. The collection includes findings from the prehistoric period of Kasos, coins and inscriptions from the cave in Ellinokamara, and more. The most important piece in the collection is the inscribed Hellenistic disk stones found at the acropolis of Poli.

Also, you can rent a motorbike or car to explore the island. It measures just 17km long and 6km wide at its widest point. Some main villages you can visit in the island are Agia Marina, Panagia, Poli and Arvanitochori.
